Yes, you read correctly; 28 inches of snow. It started snowing on Friday and didn’t stop until late Saturday afternoon. Good news is that today we finally got my car out from its snowy prison, bad news is that we’re getting 12-20 more inches tomorrow. How many snowflakes is that, like 27 milliongazillion? Good thing we have food and beer. I’m ready for summer.

So, I went to Key West a few weeks ago for a wedding. It was amazing, simply amazing. The atmosphere there makes you feel like life is one big party and everyone is happy. Just the place where I want to be, 24-7. A place where you forget about your frivolous worries and learn to live again.
Actually, it was the most laid back place I’ve ever been to. I highly recommend it to anyone who yearns for some sunshine, half naked, average-looking chicks, great food and crazy bar crawling nights. Go to Hog’s Breath, Sloppy Joe’s or Rick’s, a guaranteed good time. Anyway, I went off on my own for a few hours and found some amazing art shops. They’re everywhere in Key West but one shop on Duval Street definitely stood out from the rest. Nestled inside of a tiny building were the works of a photography master. I stood in awe at the imagery before me. Peter Lik, bad website but I love you. No pictures from me because in galleries such as these, you’re not allowed to snap any shots and I wouldn’t want to anyway. I wandered around the over-sized gallery like a kid in a toy store, picking my nose and the whole nine yards. Some of the photos I saw almost made me cry (yes, that’s the girly side of me) and then I walked up to the counter and proceeded to tell the workers that the gallery was perfect in presentation and that I wanted to buy all of the artwork, which probably added up to about a gazillion (american) dollars. When I was walking back to my hotel, I realized that I was just talking to the actual photographer himself. Good thing I had such positive feedback, huh?

I was trying to daydream, but my mind kept wandering.

So, I try to cook but it’s never as good as it sounds.
Ready, Shrimp scampi with whole grain angel hair pasta, warm mixed baby field greens with feta, lemon and tomato salad, finished off with a glass of pinot grigio. It was a ton of work and very tasty, but was it worth it?
Here are the steps to a wonderful Monday night dinner:
Step 1:

Step 2:

Step 3:

The final step is to drink what ever alcohol you have to make the food taste better. With seafood, I suggest a Pinot Grigio, for steak, I suggest a fine Pinot Noir, for Taco Bell Gorditas, I suggest you leave your girlfriend.

Mark this day of September 13, 2009 as a day for celebration in my humble life! Today, I have finally reacquired about 2/3 of my sense of taste back and I’m ready to eat! I forced myself to go to the grocery store today so I could pick up some savory tidbits to further entice my tasty buds into complete rehabilitation. I started small with a lack (late afternoon snack) consisting of french bread, brie, basil leaves, tomatoes, olive oil and fresh-cracked pepper. DELICIOUS! See below and refrain from drooling on your keyboard…

YUM!
On the dinner menu for tonight will be a delectable chicken broth poached salmon with fresh dill, garlic sauteed baby string beans, smart balance® buttered sweet potatoes and some cheap inexpensive chardonnay, yes, alcohol and antibiotics! Life is GOOD!
I initially lost my sense of taste due to the fact that I’ve been contaminated with some sort of super virus since last Monday. I know what you’re thinking, “swine flu?” No, thank God, but it was one hell of a cold. I even managed to infect my beloved, seemingly from sheer eye contact and I’ll probably get fired from work due to the amount of days I called out. I could’ve went on a mini vacation. Anyway, Here are my super huge, obnoxiously pink antibiotic pills that smell a lot like natural gas, weird.

These puppies will kill anything that sets itself within a 5 foot radius of my being. Bring it on close-talkers! You annoy me anyway.
Cheers!

Today sucked. I needed some fresh air so I grabbed my camera and my tripod then made my way to a hill by my place. I sat there in the grass for about an hour or so while I tried to take some night shots, as suggested by my friend Patrick but all I could get was this silly moon halo…

Psh, did i say silly? I meant awesome!
By “night shots” I think he meant good pictures. Pictures that a 12 year old couldn’t take. Pictures that are amazing. Like this one and this one and this one is my favorite even though it’s not a night shot.
One of my favorite photographers and an inspiration. He’s simply amazing, check out his work…

My parents bought my speed skates for me when I was in Jr. High after I cried about “needing” them for a few months. Every weekend, all I would do for 4 hours at a time was skate. Couples skate, Triples skate, Speed skate, eat and skate, play video games and skate, you name it I was doing it at the skating rink. I thought I was pretty bad ass. I had poofy hair, wore Def Leppard t shirts, and always had my two sets of different colored socks perfectly scrunched down to the top of my ankles. One day I’ll post a pic… maybe. My favorite song back then to skate to was “Return of the Mack” (WARNING: bad video but it is what it is). Showing my age, huh?
Today, I busted ‘em out, blew off the dust and took ‘em for a 2 mile spin on a nearby bike trail.
Good times!
